Chair Full of Mannequins

When I sat in the chair to have my hair cut, I glanced over and saw hair flopping over the arm of the chair across fro me, and thought someone had passed out!!! After a second, I realized it as a chairfull of practice mannequins for the 2 new trainees... creepy and funny all at the same time, which, of course, is just my style! I'd love to turn one of these into a painting....I know I would always find the humor in it!!!

Bird Of Paradise

When I went to have my hair done, Tera had this gorgeous bouquet on the counter... I couldn't resist taking a couple of shots...

Lakelawn

This past weeks drawing assignment was to do a monochromatic landscape in only 5 shades of green pastels. This is my 1st attempt at the pastels, and my 2nd attempt at landscapes. Pastels are definitely a challenge, and I don't think I've completely found my groove with landscapes yet, either. With that being said, I'm still pretty pleased with this initial attempt, and I'm ready to try a few more.... This landscape is from Lakelawn over in NOLA.

My Sweet Rosalie

Our last assignment in drawing was to make a collage of black and white pictures, and then draw our collage on etching paper with charcoal. I have these wonderful pictures of my grandmother at the beach with her friends that i've been wanting to use in an art project forever, so I did my drawing of my rockin' hot grandma...a real true pin up gal! I love how it came out, and plan to redo it in color so that it looks like old sailor jerry tattoo flash....

Breast Cancer Awareness

Another awesome find were these soup cans with pink and gold labels!!!! The color is brilliant! And it has a little band of fleur de lis around the bottom. I bought a load of them, with a really lovely collage for breast cancer awareness in mind. I'll post it here when I'm done! : )

The Six Million Dollar Man

Actually, he was only $1.00, but he's worth way more to me!! I bought "Rusty Things" by Michael deMeng, and he made an awesome assemblage using one of these guys, so, of course, I had to have one! well, 4.... he has these really cool removable organs.....

Doll Parts

This is my mixed media collage of my cool vintage paper dolls...some of my photos are blurry, so I'll retake them as soon as I can. The 1st pic is of the whole painting, the others are detail shots. This collage is 5'x5', acrylics, handmade papers, and paperdolls.

Saturday's photo day

I am trying out my new camera, so I went to New Orleans on Saturday and took a ridiculous amount of photos.....I have so many new ideas for paintings from the trip, that I'm already working on sketches!!!
